Card Dead

  • The term "card dead" is used by a player describing a run of unplayable hands, where every other decision than folding is not more profitable.
Sometimes it is used as a term to describe the lack of premium starting hands dealt during a session.

It is just a variance part of poker the player has no influence over and that happens to everyone. A smart poker player might use the lack of raising hands and perceived tightness to put in some more bluffs than usual to compensate, this can backfire though.

    Example

"This tournament is so soft, but I could do so little being mostly card dead throughout the day. I haven't seen pocket tens or better dealt to me all day!"
