    • TheSuccessHabit - A GROWTH EXPLOSION! 500 days to NL100 Zoom or GTFO!

Hello and welcome to my Pokermarket.com blog!

I am going to go hard at poker over the next 500 days and would love some support and help from this community. Hopefully I can make some new friends here who will help me along the way and I would love to help anyone else in anyway that I can.

      About Me
      • 46 years old male
      • Married, two children aged 5 and 8
      • In full time employment at builders merchant buying and selling to facilities management companies (55+ hours per week inc driving)
      • Also have small property portfolio renting properties out to students and professionals locally (50% share of 10 properties)

      Hobbies
      • Poker
      • Wing Chun Kung Fu (trained in Tae Kwon Do for several years and switched recently as class times at TKD became awkward) & would like to become instructor
      • Anything with my family
      • Anything to do with Personal Growth (and not just for me but for EVERYONE!)
      Philosophy Of Life
      • It is my desire and my purpose to bring as much, peace, joy, love and happiness to the world as I possibly can.
      • I will teach and inspire people to live lives of fulfilment through teaching (martial arts, poker, life coaching), writing (in my blogs, social media, articles on websites etc) but mainly through being.
      • I am a great believer that to bring about change one must first #BeTheChange and that is the part of my journey I am currently working on HARD (yes, I am a very late starter but it is NEVER too late).

What is this blog at Pokermarket.com for?
      • I am giving myself 500 days to get to beating NL100 Zoom (break even NL10 player at the moment)
      • I have been playing poker for far too long now (maybe 7 years of very small volume) with only very small profit (approx $6500) - something is not right!
      • I have many other projects that I would like to put a lot of effort into but I am not ready to quit poker yet - basically one last push at this and then I am DONE!
      • I believe I can do it, even though my history of poker suggests otherwise!
      • I hope to inspire others that they can do whatever they put their mind to as well
      • Accountability and support

I am going to update in here almost daily. I will be counting the days down from 500 to 0 with daily graphs and notes of what I am learning and implementing both on and off the tables.

I will also be posting vlogs and videos from my Youtube Channel that are mostly poker and self improvement related.

I will include some personal stuff in here too if it is interesting (tell me if not!)

Over the next couple of days I will write some posts to let you know about some of my history... I used to be in a very bad place - constantly breaking the laws, I drank EVERY SINGLE DAY for around 20 years until 4 years ago (to this day in fact!). Basically I had no respect for life and no regard for the future.

I have turned the corner and am in a GROWTH EXPLOSION!

I hope you guys will join me and support me in continuing my growth and hopefully we can all be as fulfilled as possible TOGETHER!!!

I will leave this introduction post with a video of my daughter and me having fun on Christmas Day - make sure to have the volume on and prepare to see a grown man cry!

      Happy New Year amigos!

    • My Poker History(ish)

      • I think I have been playing for around 7 years
      • First year was on Facebook while spending most of the night awake trying to get newborn daughter to sleep!!!
      • Next few years played MTT's on Skypoker (did not even know cash games and Stars etc even existed lol) - winnings approx $2000 basically set and flush mining!
      • Found cash games and other sites and Bestpokercoaching and begged to join them (they had around 4 or 5 students then with basically 100% success rate!)
      • Got onto BPC's Coaching For Profits programme and spent ~16 months working my butt off for nothing (PM me if you want to know more, I don't want to be too negative in here ;) )
      • Left BPC and played Heads Up NL50 and NL100 and made around $4500 (bumhunting BPC style but ignoring a lot of the strat I learned there) which paid for 3 fantastic family holidays in 2016
      • Around July 2016 switched to 6max Zoom starting at NL10 and stone me I cannot seem to beat it (took 3 NL25 Zoom shots and got butt kicked immediately!) BUT at this time I went back to just playing for fun and not studying etc, more for relaxation and love for the game
      • November 2016 decided it is time to give it my best again.
      • December 2016 got a new poker coach and we have almost agreed Coaching For Profits Deal for my 500 day challenge (I have had a lot of poor/bad coaching experiences but this looks very promising to me - he is a great teacher)

      TLDR so cliffs:-

      • Bad player
      • Ran good for 6 months
      • Gonna work butt off for 500 days and crush poker

I am sure there is way more BS for me to share but I think that paints the picture! I have got no illusions, I am rubbish! But in 500 days... Dis ole dude is gonna be good! Right??? Right!!! :ninja:

Thanks sleeper1979!!! Is 1979 your birth year!? If so I am happy to find someone almost as old as me in the poker world!!! Actually not really, you would still be 9 years younger!

Unfortunately, it is my birth year. But I am happy to have someone around who is even older than me :D (I guess a few guys are already around, but besides that you'll find a lot more "young guns" here).

Totally okay to share a few more details here. There were some discussions in the German section about that program a couple of months ago. I guess some guys would love to hear more about that from an insider.
    • Ola amigos!

So today it is back to WORK! :wondering:

I mean, yeah, I have to go back to the day job but that's not what I am talking about here...

I am talking about CRUSHING POKER, SMASHING KUNG FU, BUSTING SELF IMPROVEMENT AND DISCIPLINE...

Yes, I am talking about a GROWTH EXPLOSION!!!

Let me know what you guys are doing in your morning routines (and what time you get up in the morning )???

      Hello Chris and welcome :)

Impressive that you still have time to play & study poker with all those hobbies and duties. Sounds definitely interesting and I am in.

@ bpc Always thought this would be some "scam" thing, but you don't find many details about it and apparently members are not allowed to share anything?! Anyway, please go ahead and tell us about it.
      Hi looool!!!

Thank you for the kind words and the warm welcome!

Well I do LOVE playing poker so it's not too hard haha! But yh, I learned a lot of time management skills etc to help me do these things. Only 4 years ago I was getting up at 0430 hours to train TKD before even getting to the tables and before even going to work! :ninja:

Hopefully this will be the big year for me at the tables if I work hard like that again??? :fcrossed:

      Notes
      • 1.5 hours coaching
      • Talked about strategy v limpers, how terrible my BB winrate was in December (-60evb/100) and then sweat at NL25 one table (to hear my thought process)
      • Need to hammer home preflop ranges and sizings - some problems are from lack of play but this is my main task now.
      • Slept 6.5 hours
      • Exercised (skip 3min, 25 push ups, Wing Chun).
      • Meditated 10 mins.

      Hand

      Hero (SB): $10.71 (107.1 bb)
      BB: $30.97 (309.7 bb)
UTG: $13.79 (137.9 bb) NO READS PROBABLY REG
      MP: $12.60 (126 bb)
      CO: $10.20 (102 bb)
      BTN: $18.36 (183.6 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with :ks :qs
UTG raises to $0.30, 3 folds, Hero raises to $1, BB folds, UTG calls $0.70

Giving him this preflop calling range for this analysis - please criticise it...

Flop: ($2.10) :jd :kh :qd (2 players)
Hero bets $1.70, UTG raises to $4.40, Hero raises to $9.71 and is all-in, UTG calls $5.31

      SB*****69.44%**67.14%***2.31%*{ KsQs }

I cbet big which seems standard to me (criticise please).

When he raises my cbet I narrow his range to QQ-JJ, AKs, KQs, AKo

Calling seems not an option to me so I jam it in.

Q1 - My preflop 3bet size is okay?

3b-Size is ok (i use the same, 1bb bigger for being oop vs Fullstack)
Continuation-Range might be a little tighter on Fast-NL10 but that doesnt change much imo (maybe cut off 77, 88, AJs)
I cbet a bit smaller even if it's a drawheavy board. There aren't that many (AK has Gutter + A, AdKd ofc has NutFD), TT has OESD (aroung 13-15bb)
I use to bet/shove here. I don't like the call given the fact we sit there, not really knowing what to do if a T/A/Club appear.

      • Spotted more small stupid errors - affecting my decisions in that hand AND at other tables - EXPENSIVE!
      • Had quite a few 40-50bb pots where had to fold (eg TT in 3b pot on AKx) - no problem, just was too often ;)

2 folds, Hero raises to $0.20, BTN raises to $0.75, 2 folds, Hero raises to $2.40, BTN calls $1.65

I considered jamming my 4bet preflop here as stacks are only 50bb but I think this is better (he might jam over worse anyway).

      Flop: ($4.95) :qc :ac :9c (2 players)
Hero bets $2.70, BTN calls $2.65 and is all-in

      BU*****43.74%**35.98%***7.76%*{ QQ+, ATs+, KQs, QJs, JTs, AJo+, KQo }

With this calling range I am good. I think it is easy jam anyway.

      BU*****46.59%**37.96%***8.63%*{ QQ+, ATs+, KQs, QJs, JTs, AQo+, KQo }

Agree calling looks terrible and I was also going to use a tighter range for villain like you said - but of course I saw what he had so was biased!!!

6.5 hours - well I slept 4.5 hours for a couple of years when training for TKD tournaments :ninja: and then doing CFP @ BPC. I can sleep around 8 hours max I guess (unless drunk ofc :D ).

For now I won't set alarm and see when I wake up! Edit: Will set alarm for work just in case!!! :whistling:

Meditated 10 mins - Been meditating for ~2 years on and off (mostly on). Definitely good for me. I am able to focus better or to put it in better words I am more aware of myself (and, therefore, the errors I am making 8| ).

Yes, amigos, there has been a SHOCK to the system!!!!!!!

Yes (before you ask), I was VERY tempted to "book a win" at 600 hands lololol!!!

Was time for some rungood to be honest but it's all a bit irrelevant - when my win rate is high enough variance plays a smaller part.

A very long way to go but I am ON THE CASE!!!

      looool wrote:

Wow. That's quite a lot for this limit :(

I guess you already marked some hands to re-check your lines with your coach? Might be a lot variance, but I guess there are also some "not so good" plays :/

Anyways, keep your head up! :)
Yeah, we did a couple of sessions this week, he is helping me tonnes tbh. Thank you SO SO MUCH for the support!

So, er, well, er, you see... It's kinda like this...

      Normal service is resumed...

      Stupid game!

So, after 200 hands of 3bet/folding and check/folding the flop I got AA and beat KK - not much skill required there though!!! :muscle:

Not long after that I ran AA into 99 on 99xAx but hey, I was lucky, the guy only had 70bb or so!

No worries! I felt I was playing solid and I know if I keep working and improving my skill and mindset then it won't be variance that wins the day!

I did have this hand which seems okay to me, although when I ran it through Equilab I am not so sure...

Party, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

      Hero (SB): $10.52 (105.2 bb)
      BB: $10.15 (101.5 bb)
      UTG: $26.64 (266.4 bb)
      MP: $18.53 (185.3 bb)
      CO: $35.51 (355.1 bb)
      BTN: $11.49 (114.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with :td :jd
2 folds, CO raises to $0.30, BTN folds, Hero raises to $1, BB folds, CO calls $0.70

      Flop: ($2.10) :9h :4h :qd (2 players)
Hero bets $1.25, CO calls $1.25

      Turn: ($4.60) :6c (2 players)
Hero bets $2.62, CO calls $2.62

      River: ($9.84) :2c (2 players)
Hero bets $5.65 and is all-in...

What do you think Pokermarketeers??? It looks to me that a lot hinges on how many flush draws he gets to the river with and then folds.

Maybe you could help me by suggesting a range he might call CO v SB 3bet preflop assuming he is a reg for these stakes?

In other news the weekend was EXTREMELY productive for me...

I completed my accounts for my property portfolio which is a good job as they have to be in to the Inland Revenue by 31st January!

I spent about 2 hours reviewing my last coaching sessions and improving my notes from them, I learned a lot there.

Also we spent a lot of good time together as a family, which at the end of the day is what my life is ALL about!

Keep the faith amigos - 448 days to go!!!!!
